The surge in Covid infections is causing major disruption for rail passengers - with dozens of train services being cancelled due to staff sickness.
A number of firms are running reduced timetables due to workers being off sick or isolating, and CrossCountry said it is “expecting widespread disruption to our services this week” - and urged travellers to move their journeys forward.
Avanti West, Govia Thameslink, Greater Anglia, Northern, ScotRail and TransPennine Express have also all announced delays and cancellations.
Meanwhile, Nicola Sturgeon is set to update Scotland on coronavirus rules as cases remain high across the country. Ms Sturgeon had previously suggested there would be no changes to Covid measures in Scotland before Christmas - but restrictions on football matches are among new measures reportedly being considered.
The first minister is due make her statement at about 2.20pm.
