Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Weghorst warning, Lingard decision, Bale boost

For Tottenham supporters, this summer transfer window has caused all sorts of excitement.

Of course, most of that will be due to the return of Gareth Bale - but there has been some shrewd business elsewhere as well from Jose Mourinho.

Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon have all been signed by Spurs so far this summer.

However, the chase for a new centre-forward is still happening, as well as some other positions - according to reports - as you can see below with the latest transfer rumours from north London.

Jose Mourinho hails Bale 'top player in Europe'

Wolfsburg chief tells striker to turn down Spurs move

Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer has advised striker Wout Weghorst to turn down a move to Tottenham, amid reported interest.

With Harry Kane and Heung-min Son both already in north London, the Bundesliga club’s director thinks Weghorst should stay put in Germany.

In Sunday’s 5-2 victory at Southampton, Son scored four times, with Kane assisting all four of the South Korean’s goals, before the England captain netted himself - something Schafer pointed out.

Speaking to Sportschau, Schafer said: “Son scored four times, Kane scored (too). So Wout should stay with us.”

Mourinho not interested in Lingard

Tottenham manager Mourinho is not interested in a possible reunion with Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard, according to The Athletic (via Inside Futbol).

Lingard has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent days, but according to the report, he is not an active target.

Mourinho managed the England attacker during his time at Old Trafford and featured heavily - playing 107 times under his former boss.

However, the love that Mourinho showed Lingard has not been reciprocated under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Bale’s agent makes admission over client’s future

With Bale recently signing for Spurs on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, the Welshman’s agent has insisted he could extend his stay with the Premier League club.

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has revealed that if things do go well for the 31-year-old in his second stint at Tottenham, then he’d have no problem extending his stay beyond the one-year loan deal.

Barnett said to BBC Sport: “I’m sure that if things really worked out well, we’d have no problem (staying at Spurs for longer).

“This is the club he wants to play at. I don’t see any problems if he wants another year.”
