Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Levy sends transfer message to Real Madrid, De Ligt latest

With under two months of the season remaining, all eyes are on the summer.

Will this be the transfer window where Spurs finally make some signings? There will no doubt be some opportunity to spend but will Daniel Levy provide Mauricio Pochettino with the backing that he deserves?

There have been a number of rumours around stars Tottenham have been linked with in recent months, and potentially some positive news. Of course there are always whispers of a departure too.

To help you try and keep up with all the latest players linked with a move to the Lilywhites this summer, and those who could leave, these are today's biggest Spurs transfer stories and rumours.

Christian Eriksen

Real Madrid will have to pay £130million if they want to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham this summer.

That is the price tag Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has slapped on the Denmark international, according to the Sunday Mirror .

Although playmaker Eriksen will have just a year to run on his contract from June, Levy is determined to deliver the maximum possible return.

And should Spanish giants Madrid pursue a deal at that price, an agreement between the two clubs for the 27-year-old to follow in the footsteps of ex-Spurs stars Luka Modric and Gareth Bale would see him become the third most expensive player EVER behind Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The £130m figure is more than 10 times what Spurs paid Dutch club Ajax for him in 2013.

Josh Maja

Former Sunderland striker Josh Maja has revealed he hopes to eventually join either Arsenal or Barcelona.

Maja, 20, was reportedly a target for Tottenham before departing Wearside for southwest France in January but it appears the Lewisham-born forward, who came through the academies of Crystal Palace and Fulham, would prefer to don the colours of their north London rivals.

He told France Football: "I support Barcelona and Arsenal, because they’re my local team. Of course, I’d really like to play in the team with which I grew up.

"It would be great. It’s clear the Premier League is one of the best in the world, with the best teams.

"I hope to play there one day, but for now I’m with Bordeaux, I want to succeed here and we’ll see about the rest later."

Maja has made five appearances in Ligue 1 since departing Sunderland for an initial £1.5million and is yet to find the net for his new club. However the young striker is highly regarded and scored 15 goals in 24 games for the Black Cats in League One this season.

Matthijs de Ligt

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt has named the club he could join next, and it's not good news for Tottenham.

football.london first reported Spurs' interest in the Dutch wonderkid last summer, with Tottenham tracking the Netherlands international over the past 12 months.

De Ligt  has caught the attention of many of Europe's top clubs in recent seasons though, with Barcelona among those who have considered a move for the young Dutchman.

But the defender has dropped a major hint about which club he wants to join if and when he does leave the Eredivisie outfit.
