Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon was a clear indication that their squad needs reinforcements this summer.
Injuries to key players like Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have left Spurs without a recognised striker as the team tries to recover from poor early season form to qualify for the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho will be entering his first full season in the job, and will be aiming to make the moves to mould the squad in his image.
Here are today’s Tottenham transfer rumours.
Julardzija linked
Tottenham are interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb starlet Edin Julardzija and could make a move for him in the summer, according to Sassuolo.
Julardzija, who currently plays for the club’s under-18 side, is said to be held in high regard at the Croatian giants.
While according to a report from 24Sata, the youngster rejected an offer to join Chelsea’s youth set up back in 2014, deciding to stay with Dinamo instead.
Forsberg’s agent responds to Mourinho comments
Emil Forsberg’s agent has responded to Jose Mourinho’s positive comments about his client.
Forsberg’s came on as a substitute in the Champions League tie between the two sides on Wednesday night with Mourinho clearly envious of the talent the German side have at their disposal.
And now Forsberg’s agent has spoken about Mourinho’s comments and dropped a cryptic response when asked about a possible transfer.
“Nothing that surprises me at all. Mourinho is a great legend who has worked with Victor Nilsson Lindelöf as well," he said.
“Together with Victor, Forsberg is the biggest star in the national team and has caused total chaos in Leipzig. I’m not surprised.
“I can say this … everyone will soon see what will happen to Emil Forsberg.”
Robinson on why Giroud should have signed
Paul Robinson has insisted that Tottenham should have signed Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud during the January transfer window.
Robinson believes that the French hitman would have fit Jose Mourinho’s system of play perfectly.
“It was widely spoken about that they tried to get a striker in the window, tried to get Giroud,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he would have been the perfect fit with the way that he plays and the way that he plays for France. He leads the line and allows three behind him – Mbappe, Griezmann and whoever else it is – to do the damage.
“He occupies the central defenders, it’s the same system as what Jose plays. With Harry Kane out, it showed the lack of attacking options.”
