Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Giroud makes Spurs admission, Coutinho hope, £18m for Vecino

With Tottenham Hotspur dumped out of the FA Cup and Champions League in quick succession and currently eighth in the Premier League, Jose Mourinho will certainly be looking to make improvements over the summer.

Mourinho has denied that he will make “massive changes” to the squad but, as the difficult transition from the Mauricio Pochettino era continues, comings and goings are inevitable.

With that in mind, here are the latest Tottenham transfer rumours:

Tottenham: The season so far

Inter want £18m for Vecino

Vecino, 28, joined Inter Milan from Fiorentina in 2018 and has made 91 appearances for the Nerazzurri since then. Spurs fans may remember him for his late winner against them at the San Siro in the Champions League group stage last season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Uruguayan midfielder is attracting interest from both Everton and Spurs and could be allowed to leave. Inter want around £18m for him, however, and will not let him go for less.

Joorabchian offers hope over Coutinho

Influential agent Kia Joorabchian has given Spurs cause for optimism over the possibility of signing Philippe Coutinho this summer.

Coutinho almost moved to north London last year but the deal was never finalised. Reports emerged suggesting the transfer fell through because Daniel Levy tried to change the financial package at the last minute, upsetting Coutinho.

Joorabchian has denied that, however, and claimed that his client has no problem with Spurs, saying: “Philippe Coutinho has no personal issue with Daniel Levy and claims otherwise are totally false. The deal did not collapse due to financial reasons.”

Giroud confirms January interest

Olivier Giroud has confirmed that there was interest from Spurs in January, though Inter Milan was his preferred destination.

“Everyone knows that the sporting project of Inter was the most interesting for me,” he told Telefoot.

“Lazio and Tottenham also looked for me. At one point, it was a question of where I wanted to go to play. I spoke to [Antonio] Conte on the phone.”
