Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: £50m star gives Spurs hope, ex-Liverpool man's transfer claim

With just under two months of the season remaining, all eyes are on the summer.

Will this be the transfer window where Spurs finally make some signings? There will no doubt be some opportunity to spend but will Daniel Levy provide Mauricio Pochettino with the backing that he deserves?

There have been a number of rumours around stars Tottenham have been linked with in recent months, and potentially some positive news. Of course there are always whispers of a departure too.

To help you try and keep up with all the latest players linked with a move to the Lilywhites this summer, and those who could leave, these are today's biggest Spurs transfer stories and rumours.

Boubakary Soumare

It seems like Spurs could have some competition for the Frenchman.

The Daily Star report that Newcastle had a bid turned down in January for the midfielder, while Manchester City had a £22m offer for Soumare rejected last year.

According to Foot Mercato , Tottenham sent a scout to France U20's clash with Argentina on Wednesday night to keep an eye on Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

The 20-year-old has reportedly attracted attention from the likes of Juventus and Valencia, as well as Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Valencia tried to sign the youngster last summer and could reportedly try again at the end of the season, but they may face competition from Tottenham, whose scout was said to be impressed by Soumare's performance.

David Brooks

Tottenham tracked the progress of David Brooks before considering a move for the Welshman last summer - instead they decided to pursue Jack Grealish and Brooks made the £12m move to Bournemouth.

Could Spurs be given another chance?

The former Sheffield youngster has given hope to his admirers after acknowledging his ambition is to play at the highest level, at home or abroad.

Juan Foyth reveals the area of his game that Mauricio Pochettino is trying to help him improve

Brooks has thrived in the Premier League and scored six goals and provided four assists in his debut season, and recently picked up both the Wales Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards at the FAW's awards ceremony - becoming the first player to win them both in the same year.

He told Wales Online : “I have said many times when I go into the league, you back yourself to do well but to make the impact I probably did as early on, I wouldn't have probably guessed and assumed I was going to do that," he added.

"But you back yourself when you get the chance.

“I don't know what the future holds for myself. I want to play at the highest level possible whether that is abroad or in England. Obviously the aim is to get up there and whatever opportunities come, I will have to make the decisions then.

Christian Eriksen explains why Spurs are in no danger of missing out on a top-four spot just yet

“I am not really expecting it (offers from elsewhere), the reason I signed the contract is I am happy at Bournemouth and the way my progression is going."

So Brooks' future is open but it might cost Spurs £50m to lure him.

Fernando Llorente

Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has had a mixed time in north London over the past two seasons.

The Spaniard joined  Spurs  in August 2017 on a two-year deal from Swansea City, and has made 54 appearances since then in all competitions.

But as the back-up option to Harry Kane for Mauricio Pochettino's side, he has found his opportunities limited, with many of his appearances coming from off the bench.

He has, however, netted some vital goals for the Lilywhites, including scoring the third goal in Spurs' 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie last month.

'Part of a deal to bring Siggy back!' - Spurs fans joyous over Kieran Trippier to Everton links

But he has been linked with a move away from north London, with his former club Athletic Bilbao linked with a January move for the 34-year-old.

Llorente played more than 300 times for Bilbao between 2004 and 2013, scoring 118 goals in all competitions, before moving on to join Juventus.

But while Athletic Bilbao's club president Aitor Elizegi said that there was no contact between them and Spurs in January, he says the La Liga side are aware of his situation, with his contract expiring in the summer.

Ryan Babel

Ryan Babel returned to the Premier League in January with a move to Fulham after leaving Turkish side Besiktas.

Brought to Craven Cottage by Claudio Ranieri to try and help the west London side beat the drop after a dismal start to the Premier League season, the Dutchman has been unable to help his new side climb the table in 2019.

Looking set to return to the Championship at the first time of asking, Babel is likely to be on the lookout for a new club in the summer with his deal coming to an end, as well as the fact he won't want to drop down to the second tier.

Dele Alli pays tribute to Raheem Sterling's England hat-trick with brilliant social media video

First making a name in the Premier League with Liverpool between 2007 and 2011 as a youngster, the winger played for a further six clubs before heading to Fulham in January.

The Dutch international did in fact return to Ajax after his spell with German side Hoffenheim, but he was only there for the 2012/13 season with the Eredivisie giants.

Speaking to Voetbol International about his career, the player claimed that he was thinking of a potential move to either Spurs or West Ham to try and get his career back on track after failing to impress back in Holland.
