Weather conditions are expected to be unsettled across Greater Manchester this week, Met Office forecasters predict.

Some cloudy, rainy days are predicted while on some days, the region will be hit with rain.

Tomorrow, the region is set to be hit by showers in the morning which could be heavy in some areas.

The weather will then turn cloudy into Tuesday evening.

Temperatures will only reach highs of around 12C.

Wednesday will be a much sunnier day across the region, with forecasters predicted a bright start to the day.

The weather will turn cloudier into the afternoon with temperatures reaching around 15C.

On Thursday, cloudy weather is predicted for most of the day with temperatures of around 19C.

Friday is a very similar picture.

Into the weekend, conditions on Saturday will start off overcast with light rain expected in the region during the early evening.

Sunday will be another cloudy day, with temperatures reaching a high of around 16C.

For the rest of the UK, a yellow weather warning for rain has been issued in some areas from today until 23.59pm on Tuesday.

Heavy and persistent rain is likely to lead to disruption to transport, the Met Office said.

There will be some showers today, some heavy, particularly in the west and south-east at first, developing elsewhere through the day.

There will be some sunshine between the showers, which will be best in the east.

Rain and strong winds will reach the far south-west later.

Tonight, heavy rain will move east across England and Wales with strong winds and coastal gales in the south and west.

There will be patchy frost and fog for central and northern Scotland.

On Tuesday, there will be persistent and at times heavy rain and strong winds for northern England and south-east Scotland.

Rain will then clear to blustery showers and sunny spells in the south and west.

The Met Office outlook for Wednesday to Friday predicts cloud and rain affecting Northern Ireland and Scotland at times, heavy and persistent in the west.

Elsewhere, conditions will then become largely settled with variable cloud and some morning fog.
