The latest coronavirus infection rates for Greater Manchester show cases are continuing to rise across all ten boroughs - but at a slower rate than they were.
Statistics released by Public Health England show the post-Christmas rise in cases appears to have slowed.
The average infection rate across England has dropped off slightly, while the average for Greater Manchester has flattened off.
All ten Greater Manchester boroughs remain below the average rate for England.
Wigan remains the worst affected area in Greater Manchester, with 457 cases per 100,000 people, as of January 6.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the country would go into a third national lockdown two days earlier.
Cases are on the increase in all of our boroughs week-on-week, ranging from the lowest rise of 31 per cent in Bury, to 68 per cent in Salford.
The average case rate for Greater Manchester is 415.1, an increase of 48 per cent on the previous week.
It comes as Chris Whitty, the UK's chief medical officer, issued a stark warning about the impact of surging infection rates within the NHS.
"The new, more transmissible variant of this disease is spreading rapidly across the country and having tragic consequences", he said in a statement.
"Hospitals are always busy in the winter but the NHS in some parts of the country is currently facing the most dangerous situation anyone can remember."
More than 80,000 people have now died in the UK after contracting the virus.
