Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Roman Abramovich to spend big, Conte's triple raid, Rice issue

Chelsea could be one of the more active teams when the transfer window reopens in January.

As was the case in what turned out to be a fantastic summer for Blues head coach Frank Lampard as he was heavily backed by owner Roman Abramovich with significant funds to improve the first-team squad.

The club spent over £200m on seven major additions and also managed to keep hold of N'Golo Kante as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi - two players linked with moves away.

Edouard Mendy completed the new additions at Stamford Bridge which also includes Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva, and Kai Havertz.

Whilst the west London outfit can't make any signings for now, transfer season will resume at the beginning of next year to send fans into a frenzy.

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Chelsea trio tipped to leave

Emerson Palmieri, Olivier Giroud, and Marcos Alonso are all on the radar of Inter Milan.

That's according to reports in Italy who claim that Antonio Conte could raid his former club to bolster his current side in the January transfer window.

In addition, it's stated that Conte wants Giroud as a back-up option to Romelu Lukaku and could be in luck due to the Frenchman dropping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge so far this season.

The same applies to Emerson and Alonso who have seen Chilwell installed as the first-choice left-back.

It's claimed that a new left-back is also a priority for the Serie A giants this winter, and both Alonso and Emerson are on the club's shortlist.

Roman Abramovich to spend big

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen to spend big once again, despite splashing the cash in the summer.

That's according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who was talking on The Blue View Podcast.

However, Romano believes this only happens if the football world returns to some normality following the Covid-19 situation.

But the good news for Chelsea fans is that Abramovich wants to spend big.

Declan Rice dilemma

Chelsea could be facing a dilemma amid their pursuit of Declan Rice.

The West Ham United midfielder was heavily linked with a move in the summer, and football.london have analysed the key question the Blues must consider ahead of a potential January deal.

The piece highlights how Rice won more tackles (89) in the Premier League last season than anyone else while only Manchester United captain Harry Maguire made more interceptions.

However, Chelsea must remember that the role Rice plays at West Ham is very different to the one he would be asked to fulfil at Chelsea.

And given the fact West Ham won’t want to lose him on the cheap, Chelsea must ask themselves whether it’s worth spending tens of millions on Rice when they already have options at the base of midfield.
