Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Marcos Alonso decision made, Manchester United win tussle

Chelsea’s summer spending spree has turned Frank Lampard’s charges into genuine Premier League title contenders.

The Blues spent more than £200million to shape their squad into Lampard’s mould, with big-money names including Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell among those through the door at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea sit six points off leaders Liverpool ahead of their clash with Arsenal on Boxing Day, knowing they can go into 2021 firmly in the title picture.

Lampard could look to strengthen in the January window, but may also have to balance the books and look at possible departures.

Here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Frank Lampard on Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Arsenal's predicament

Caballero exploring MLS move

Willy Caballero is reportedly looking to secure a move to the MLS during the January transfer window.

The Chelsea goalkeeper has dropped to third choice following the summer signing of Edouard Mendy and is searching for more regular football.

The Athletic claim the Argentine still believes he has football left in him at 39 years old and will now consider his options to move to the United States.

Alonso decision made

Marcos Alonso will reportedly choose to join Atletico Madrid over Inter when the January transfer window opens.

The left-back has fallen out of favour at Chelsea since a disastrous performance in the 3-3 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

With both Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri ahead of him in the pecking order, Alonso had been linked with a return to Italy and working with Antonio Conte again.

But Corriere dello Sport claim the 29-year-old will return to his native country to join Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid on a six-month loan.

Man United win transfer tussle

Manchester United have beaten Chelsea in the race to sign Moises Caicedo, according to reports.

The South American teenager is a talent in demand and the Blues had reportedly rivalled United for his signature.

But according to Ecuadorian publication Diario Expreso, it is the Old Trafford club who have won the battle.

The 19-year-old, who also drew interest from Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle United, will reportedly sign a five-year deal with United, who have paid £4.5million for his signature.
