Latest Boris Johnson coronavirus health update as Prime Minister to stay in hospital for another night

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be spending another night in hospital where he is being treated for coronavirus.

He is stable and remains in intensive care at the NHS' St Thomas' Hospital in London.

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The Prime Minister's condition is stable and he remains in intensive care for close monitoring. He is in good spirits."

No further updates on his condition are expected until Wednesday.

Mr Johnson has not been diagnosed with pneumonia and has not required ventilation for respiratory support, a spokesman said in an update on the Prime Ministers' condition at 12.30pm on Tuesday. He had been receiving oxygen treatment.

It is understood he was moved to intensive care so he could be close to a ventilator if needed.

Mr Johnson, 55, is "in very good hands", said Dominic Raab, who is deputising for the PM and chaired the government's daily meeting.

Mr Johnson was taken to hospital on Sunday for tests after continuing to experience persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for Covid-19.
