Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Upamecano hopes dented, Partey tipped, Lovren linked

The future of the remainder of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign was plunged into doubt on Friday with the news that all fixtures in England's top four tiers have been postponed until April 3 at the earliest.

This decision has been made due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, which is showing very little sign of getting better any time soon.

The virus is currently causing havoc and chaos across the globe and the Premier League has been hit as a result of that.

But even though it feels incredibly odd not to have any football matches taking place at this time of the year, the correct decision has been made, with the health of the UK's population having to come first.

What Arsenal stars are doing at home

Though this situation is far from ideal, this period of no on-field action taking place could hand Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, who revealed on Sunday that he was already "feeling better" after being diagnosed with COVID-19 on Thursday, the chance to try and set out some plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the very latest Arsenal transfer news.

Milan trying to beat Arsenal to Upamecano signing

Italian giants AC Milan are set to reignite their interest in RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano this summer, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Frenchman, who is 21-years-old, is considered as one of the most highly-rated defenders in European football.

Milan's interest in Upamecano has returned because they are likely to let defenders Simon Kjaer and Mateo Musacchio leave this summer.

This could be a damaging blow to Arsenal's hopes of signing the defender, as Arteta looks to try and bolster his defensive line this summer.

Arsenal urged to sign Partey

Former West Ham United and Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop is backing Arsenal to sign Atletico Madrid midfield star Thomas Partey this summer, insisting that they should get the deal done "quickly," report Goal.

The Ghanaian midfield enforcer, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders in his particular role in the world, has been attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in recent months.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Hislop said: "Thomas Partey has been outstanding for the last two years at the very least. If you’re Arsenal and you can somehow prise Partey away from Atletico Madrid, absolutely you do it all day every day.

"He sits in front of the back four, I’m still not sure that there are many better box-to-box midfielders in the game. If you get this done, do it now, do it quick."

Gunners to rival North London neighbours for Lovren

The Express are reporting that Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren this summer.

The defender, who has been at Anfield since 2014, is down the pecking order at Liverpool when it comes to the central defensive position, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip ahead of him.

His days at Anfield look numbered, meaning he could be set to leave this summer, with him likely to have plenty of suitors.

And Arsenal are poised to rival Tottenham for the Croatian international, who could cost anything north of £18million.
