TRANG: A fourth suspect wanted for smuggling 4 million speed pills was arrested early on Saturday after eight months on the run.

A team of drug suppression police, local police and soldiers raided a house in tambon Chong of Na Yong district after receiving information that Somkhid Saengthip was hiding there.

Mr Somkhid fled upon seeing the officers after he emerged from the house around 2am but was caught shortly afterward.

He was among four people suspected of smuggling 4.08 million methamphetamine pills in this southern province on May 18 last year. Two men and a woman were arrested at the time and the drugs, in fertiliser sacks hidden at a rubber plantation in Na Yong district, were seized. Mr Somkhid managed to flee.

During the police interrogation, he denied the drug charges. He is being held in police custody pending legal action.
