Last chance for shoppers to apply for Iceland's £30 food vouchers

Shoppers have a final chance to apply for Iceland’s £30 food vouchers.

The supermarket announced the scheme back in August in order to help pensioners as the cost of living continues to rise. Pension age residents who are living independently or with a carer and rely solely on state pension and benefits will receive a £30 voucher for food and other essentials.

The deadline to apply for the vouchers is today, September 16. People are encouraged to apply as quickly as possible because the vouchers will be distributed on a first come first served basis.

The vouchers can be used on food and household items, not including alcohol and tobacco. It works like a normal gift card - take the voucher to the till and the cashier will scan it.

It can be used across more than one transaction, so if your shop does not reach £30, you can partially spend the voucher and save the rest for another time.

To qualify for the voucher, you must be of state pension age, living independently or with a carer and relying solely on state pensions and benefits. To qualify, pensioners must also live in one of 16 specific areas nationwide.

You can get more than one voucher per household, for example, if you're in a couple. All vouchers will expire at 11.59pm on December 31, 2022.

Those living in the below areas qualify for the Iceland voucher:

  • Birmingham

  • Croydon

  • Glamorgan

  • Glasgow

  • Greater Manchester

  • Huddersfield

  • Lambeth (London)

  • Liverpool

  • Newcastle North

  • Newport

  • North Wales

  • Sheffield

  • Strathclyde

  • Sunderland

  • West Midlands

  • Wirral
