Largest Wingstop UK branch to open at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre

Rapidly expanding fast food chain Wingstop UK has inked a deal for its largest site in Britain to date, with plans to open at the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre.

The American brand started as a small buffalo-style chicken wing restaurant business in Texas in 1994 and began offering franchises three years later. Today there are more than 1,500 restaurants.

Lemon Pepper Holdings, master franchisee of Wingstop UK, brought the name to Britain in 2018, and the firm is on track to have 40 sites operating by the end of 2023.

Lemon Pepper Holdings said the chain is popular with a gen Z customer base and counts rappers Stormzy and Central Cee as fans.

The new 5,000 sq ft Stratford site with over 160 covers will start serving wings, boneless pieces, fries and dips to customers early next year.

Kate Orwin, leasing director UK at landlord Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield said: “Following a year of strong growth for the food and beverage sector across our two London centres, we are excited to welcome Wingstop as the latest addition for 2024."

Tom Grogan, co-founder of Lemon Pepper Holdings, said: “It has been great to work with the team at Westfield Stratford City to make this happen."

The Evening Standard reported earlier this year that investor appetite to open new restaurants and bars in the capital is holding up as firms bet on consumer demand to eat-out remaining solid even as finances are squeezed.
