Now in its 26th year, Language Show Live returns to Olympia Central this October for an amazing annual celebration of languages.
A host of exciting new content has been introduced for 2014 to ensure that visitors have an inspiring and fun experience – as well as finding essential resources to further their language learning or progress their career.
For the thousands of language teachers that attend, the free CPD certified seminar programme returns as a huge draw – providing fresh ideas, inspiration and the opportunity to keep up to date with the industry and curriculum changes.
A brand new Primary Languages Advice Hub has also been introduced this year – giving primary teachers the chance to speak to experts from Association for Language Learning (ALL) and Speak to the Future. With languages having recently been made compulsory at primary level this opportunity to gain free advice, ideas and resources is invaluable.
Elsewhere at the event visitors can source the latest language products including show-only offers with over 150 exhibitors coming from 17 different countries. Visitors also have the opportunity to progress their language skills in intensive three-hour Language Plus classes or can try out something new in free, fun Language Taster classes.
Language professionals, aspiring professionals and linguists can discover the career opportunities available to them at the show’s dedicated Careers Zone – which also has a CV clinic offering the chance to speak to a careers advisor in a 1-2-1 session.
And there’s more: visitors can also explore the latest language learning technologies in the Technology Zone or discover opportunities for teaching English at home or abroad in the TEFL Forum. And no visit to Language Show Live would be complete without experiencing the rich array of cultural performances and demonstrations taking place on The Piazza.
Exclusively for 2014, Language Show Live will play host to prestigious, invitation only seminars led by British Academy and Speak to the Future on Friday 17 October. Over the course of the day parliamentarians, language leaders in business and education from the UK and USA will discuss the subject of understanding the value of languages for employment and changes to language education policy. Key speakers include Richard Hardie from UBS Ltd., Baroness Coussins of the House of Lords and Bernadette Holmes, principal researcher for the Born Global research project. Friday’s activities will conclude with a drinks reception marking the launch of the British Academy-Guardian annual language festival.
With all this and so much more happening at this year’s event, it’s no wonder that some 9,000 language lovers from across Europe will be flocking to Olympia this October.
Language Show Live 2014 takes place from 17-19 October at Olympia Central in London.
