Land feud in Uttar Pradesh: 4 held, 3 cops suspended

LUCKNOW: Twenty-four hours after a bloody land feud in Amethi’s Rajapur Gungwach village claimed lives of four members of a family, four accused were detained while three cops — SHO kotwali, Vinod Singh, sub-inspector Sanjay Singh and constable Swatantra Upadhyay — were suspended for laxity.

An FIR was lodged on a complaint by Amarjeet Yadav, son of deceased Sankata Prasad and the lone surviving member of the family, said circle officer, city, Arpit Kapoor.

The sitting gram pradhan, Asha Tiwari, her husband Ramashankar and son Nitin too have been booked for their role in the murder of the former pradhan and his three family members. The key accused — Ram Dulare, his sons Akhilesh, Brijesh and Chhotu — have been detained.

Complainant Amarjeet Yadav said, what started as a verbal spat over offloading construction material on a disputed site snowballed into violence and Ram Dulare and Hanuman Prasad drew battle lines. Soon, Dulare’s aides reached the spot and Prasad was assaulted.
