Lanarkshire schoolgirl makes film debut as she walks the red carpet with the stars

A Lanarkshire schoolgirl strutted her stuff with the stars as she walked the red carpet for her movie debut in Leicester Square last week.

Hamilton College pupil Sophia Paterson was at the premiere of 'The Last Heist', where she stars as Polly, the daughter of Michael Head's character Slip.

The 11-year-old actress was cast alongside stars Emily Wyatt, Terry Stone, who also produces the film, Rachel Warren and former Eastenders actor Sam Gittins in the witty, gritty and thrilling story about a bank robbery that was inspired by true stories and real events.

And Sophia, who lives in Chapelhall, is certainly making her mark in the entertainment industry, already landing her second role in a film as well as going in at number 12 in the UK movie chart with The Last Heist.

Her proud dad, renowned Scottish artist Jason Paterson, told Lanarkshire Live : "Watching Sophia walking the red carpet with her co-stars as she made her way to her film debut in Leicester Square was a really proud moment for myself and her mum Antonia as parents.

"There was a host of celebrities from across the industry all there on the evening to watch the premiere. Sophia had a great time and really did us proud.

"Sophia is such a talented young girl, with a flair for art and music as well as acting, and we really look forward to following her career."

The S1 pupil has been asked by her school to lead an assembly this week where she will tell her peers all about her acting debut.

She has also been asked to create a piece of artwork to commemorate her school's 40th anniversary in the New Year.

A Hamilton College spokeswoman told us : "We are very proud of S1 learner Sophia who walked the red carpet in London this week as one of the stars of action thriller 'The Last Heist'.

"Congratulations Sophia.

"Those of us who are old enough to watch your film are looking forward to doing so."
