A Lanarkshire councillor has been inundated with messages of support after sharing the news of her baby daughter's death.
Lynsey Hamilton, who represents Clydesdale West, shared the devastating news that her second child Carys will stillborn on January 4 with her social media followers.
Lynsey, who is also Chair of Education at South Lanarkshire Council, paid tribute to her 'angel' describing her as perfect in 'every single way'.

Posting about the tragic news, the councillor wrote: "Carys Charlotte Evelyn Mclay. Born the 4th of January 2023, 2am, asleep. You are loved beyond your wildest dreams and although this is not what we ever imagined you are perfect to us in every single way. Mummy, daddy and big sister Erin love you very much our Angel."
Dozens of people including councillors from across the political divide have shared their condolences with the young family.
Central Scotland MSP Monica Lennon wrote: "Heartbroken for you all. Sleep well, beautiful Carys."
Former MSP Aileen Campbell said: "Oh Lynsey, I am so sorry to read this. I have no words that seem adequate, but thinking of you all at this unimaginably difficult and sad time. Take care and sleep well, wee Carys."

SNP MSP Elena Witham wrote: "Lynsey I am so sorry for your loss of beautiful wee Carys. Sending love and light."
Lynsey is South Lanarkshire's youngest female councillor and was the first councillor in Scotland to take family leave after the birth of her daughter Erin in 2020 following a change in policy.
