Lanarkshire council receive planning application to expand Clydesdale hotel

A planning application has been made to develop six tourist pods on the grounds of a luxury Clydesdale hotel.

A planning application was received by South Lanarkshire Council on March 29 to create six fully-equipped wig wam style pods on the grounds of the Cornhill House Hotel in Biggar.

The applicant is proposing to install the pods as additional accommodation for the hotel. Each one will have its own toilet and shower facility and will have an access pathway to the main hotel.

The location of the pods are planned to be to the north of the hotel within a secluded section of the grounds, and will face the River Clyde.

Access to the pods is through the main entrance road from the hotel building, there are existing pods and the arrangement for the additional ones will remain the same – guests will check in at the hotel reception and be given access to the accommodation.

The wigwam pods which are currently on the hotel grounds have been welcomed by hotel guests and the new ones will provide extra accommodation as well as enhancing future business for the hotel.

Standard consultation for the plans began on April 7 and will end on April 21.

The deadline for determining the proposal is June 6.
