Lanarkshire charity hosts range of activities to mark Mental Health Awareness Week

A Lanarkshire charity organised a range of activities to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

Getting Better Together (GBT) in Shotts aimed to combat the anxiety that many of us feel by bringing the community together and offering sessions which focus on health and well-being.

With everything from walking football to yoga and cold water therapy, an online book club and coffee morning, as well as mindfulness sessions there truly was something for everyone.

With the cost of living crisis weighing heavy for many, GBT are also offering sessions with their in-house income maximisation expert.

Mark Slorance, Executive Manager at Getting Better Together, said: “Mental Health Awareness Week provides the perfect opportunity for us all to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health.

“With anxiety being the focus for this year, our teams across GBT are offering a range of activities aimed at bringing people together and helping them better their mental health before it becomes a problem.

“All of our activities across the week were free and open to the whole community.”

Mental Health Awareness Week which was founded by the Mental Health Foundation runs yearly and is an opportunity to think about mental health, tackle stigma and work to create a society that prevents mental health problems from developing.

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week was anxiety.
