Lakers want to trade for Andre Drummond to help with Nikola Jokic

As the trade deadline rapidly approaches, the Chicago Bulls could be very involved in talks. At the very least, expect players up and down the roster to be thrown around in rumors. Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso may be the most common names to be mentioned, but there are some other guys who could be dealt, too.

One of those players is veteran big man Andre Drummond. The 30-year-old center stepped up in a big way for the Bulls when Nikola Vucevic was out with an injury, and because of his play, he could end up drawing interest from some teams around the league.

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to show an interest, and according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, they could want to add him to help deal with Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and the Denver Nuggets’ frontline.

“The Lakers have also considered dealing for players who could address specific needs in a potential playoff matchup, such as Andre Drummond of the Bulls, in anticipation of a postseason rematch with the Denver Nuggets and their big front line of Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon, sources said,” McMenamin wrote.

Drummond is certainly a big body to throw into the paint, but he’s not necessarily the best defender in the world. If he’s the Lakers’ best solution to dealing with Jokic, then they’ll probably be in a bit of a pickle by the time the postseason comes around.

That said, if their strategy is to simply throw bodies at Jokic, then Drummond could certainly help with that.
