Lakers Legend James Worthy Crowns LeBron James for ‘Dunk of the Century’ vs. Clippers

LeBron James continues to fend off Father Time, doing things no 39-year-old should be capable of. More proof of that came Sunday night when the Los Angeles Lakers squared off with the rival Los Angeles Clippers, and a vicious dunk by James set the internet ablaze.

James went coast to coast after grabbing a rebound, opting to go straight down the lane and rise over Clippers swingman Paul George, inspiring jaw-dropping praise from Hall of Famer James Worthy.

“That was the dunk of the century, man; 39 years old … that looked like Dr. J from like the ’70s. From the dotted line, Statue of Liberty dunk, and he threw it down hard,” Worthy said on Spectrum SportsNet Live.

In George’s defense, he made a business decision. The Clippers forward seemed to consider attempting to take a charge. But he saw what was coming and wisely opted out. As seen below in a freeze frame from the dunk, even Clippers guard James Harden couldn’t believe what happened.

James finished the night with 25 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists while adding yet another dunk to put on his legendary highlight reel.

The Lakers (18–19) halted a four-game losing skid with a with a 106–103 win over the Clippers (22–13). The Lakers return to action Tuesday at home against the Toronto Raptors (15–21), with tipoff scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
