Lakers fans are calling on Lonzo Ball to save their season

After losing to the last place Phoenix Suns on Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers are 4.5 games back of the eighth seed in the Western Conference with 19 games left in the regular season. That’s not ideal.

Now Lakers fans from all around the around the globe are calling on Lonzo Ball, not LeBron James, to save their season.

Ball has missed the last 16 games for Los Angeles after suffering a Grade 3 ankle sprain against the Houston Rockets on Jan. 19. Since then, the Lakers have gone 5-11. For context, the Lakers went 6-18 without LeBron James and in the games they’ve played without both Ball and James, they’ve gone 1-4.

Ball was supposed to return some time in early March, but a recently-discovered bone bruise in his left ankle extended his recovery time beyond his original timetable of 4-6 weeks. He will be re-evaluated in a week.

In the meantime, Lakers fans are taking to Twitter asking the basketball gods to free him of any and all injuries.

For the sake of Lonzo Ball and Lakers fans everywhere, let’s hope we get good news on Thursday.
