NBA players and coaches met for two hours on Wednesday night following the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to boycott Game 5 of their NBA playoffs series against the Orlando Magic.
The boycott came as a response to the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot seven times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
According to a report from USA TODAY Sports’ Jeff Zillgitt and Heather Tucker, during that meeting the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers both expressed their wishes to walk away from the NBA playoffs and end the season now.
While the two teams made their wishes known, the rest of the league was unable to form a consensus, according to the report.
The teams plan to reconvene today to discuss plans to move forward.
MLB, MLS, and WNBA teams all boycotted games on Wednesday.
