Lady Gaga has hit out at US Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen over their lack of support for the LGBTQ community.

The American pop star, 32, blasted Mr Pence over his wife teaching art at a school that supposedly excludes LGBTQ teachers and students.

Addressing the issue at her Las Vegas residency show, Gaga said: “You say we should not discriminate against Christianity, you are the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian.

“I am a Christian woman and what I do know about Christianity is that we bear no prejudice and everybody is welcome. So you can take all that disgrace Mr Pence and you can look yourself in the mirror and you’ll find it right there.”

Mrs Pence works at Immanuel Christian School in Virginia teaching art two days a week, according to the Washington Post.

The publication added that the school indicates that “homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female” are offences under the school’s “moral conduct.”

Parents of students supposedly must agree prior to enrolment that students can be expelled for homosexual and bi-sexual “activity.”

Fans praised Gaga for “speaking up” against Mr Pence.

One user wrote: “This is why I’m loving with Gaga! Preach.”

Another commented: “We need more people like Gaga to not be afraid and to speak up. What she says here, thank you for using your voice.”

A third added: “Just love her, there should be more women like her and you Crystal Chappell in this world that is game to voice their opinions. You go girls!!”

In response, Mr Pence told Catholic network ETWN: “To see major news organisations attacking Christian education is deeply offensive to us.”
