Labor MP's bullying 'internal stitch-up'

NSW Labor MP Tania Mihailuk denies she is a bully and says people have made the accusation because there's an election around the corner.

"I'm loud, I call a spade a spade but I'm not a bully," she told Sydney radio 2GB on Wednesday.

Ms Mihailuk faced criticism this week after 11 years in the state parliament, with reports of high staff turnover and bullying published in The Australian on Tuesday.

"This is definitely an internal stitch-up," Ms Mihailuk said.

"There are people who want my seat and people who want me out of politics," Ms Mihailuk said.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to take up the fight."

The Bankstown MP said the allegations had never been raised directly with her.

Leaks to the media were motivated by upcoming preselections for the March 2023 election, she said.

"This is going to be a big fight here for me," she said.

The MP in the neighbouring seat of Lakemba, Jihad Dib, will be without a seat due to boundary redistributions and finding another seat for him in western Sydney could prove a challenge.

Opposition Leader Chris Minns said on Tuesday that Ms Mihailuk had denied the anonymous complaint, which would be investigated.

"There is a process for people to make a complaint and it will be dealt with in an independent fashion," he said.

Veteran upper house Labor MP Walt Secord resigned from shadow cabinet and announced he would not contest the election on Friday after allegations emerged about his past behaviour in the workplace.
