Kyogo leads Celtic trio in battle for prestigious Player of the Year prize as Kevin van Veen in the hunt

Kyogo leads a trio of Celtic stars nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award with Motherwell hotshot Kevin van Veen the only challenger for the gong outside of the champions.

Dutchman Van Veen has grabbed 21 goals for the Steelmen and is on the four-man shortlist for the award but he’s well outnumbered with 50-goal Kyogo, compatriot Reo Hatate and Hoops captain Callum McGregor making up the quartet. Celtic have romped to their second Scottish Premiership title under Ange Postecoglou and could complete a domestic clean sweep when they take on Inverness Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden next month.

And Matt O’Riley and Liel Abada also make the shortlist for the Young Player of the Year award, as voted for by the players. Rangers loan star Malik Tillman is also in contention for that award along with Albion Rovers kid Charlie Reilly who is heading for newly-promoted Dundee. The winners will be announced at a glitzy bash in Glasgow on Sunday along with the winner of the Manager of the Year, Championship, League One and League Two stars of the season.
