Kyogo Furuhashi's first Celtic words as striker flies to UK for quarantine

Kyogo Furuhashi has began his Celtic journey after leaving Japan to fly to the UK.

The former Vissel Kobe frontman will then spend time in quarantine before joining up with the Celtic squad over the next couple of weeks.

It's likely that quarantine will take place in London, similar to when Ange Postecoglou made the journey from Japan last month to begin his job as manager.

Furuhashi revealed he couldn't sleep before making the journey but vowed to work hard to establish himself at Celtic as he left his native country.

The striker moves to Celtic Park after a successful spell in his homeland and becomes the third Japanese player to play for the club after Shunsuke Nakamura and Koki Mizuno.

And he insists he's determined to continue where he left off at Vissel Kobe and continue to add numbers to his game while in the Premiership.

He said: "I'm excited and I'm going to do it. I want to get results. I want to grow.

"I want goals and assists. I've always wanted visible results this year, so going to Celtic doesn't change. I have to establish my position in a new team, so I'd like to focus on that first."
