Kyogo Furuhashi reaffirms Celtic commitment amid transfer interest from the English Premier League

He's the darling of the Celtic support - and Kyogo Furuhashi says he's going nowhere amid interest from the Premier League. Just yet anyway.

Southampton have been credited with an interest in the Japanese hitman after Kyogo making a stunning start to life in green and white.

The 26-year-old attacker has been the main man for new boss Ange Postecoglou and his Parkhead rebuild - scoring eight goals in 11 games since checking in from J-League side Vissel Kobe in the summer.

Speculation over his future is rife in his homeland, however, Kyogo has moved to distance himself from talk as he prepares to take on Celtic team-mate Tom Rogic's Australia on international duty next week.

Countryman Takehiro Tomiyasu is starring for Arsenal in the EPL, while a host of players have made the switch from the Hoops to the English top flight in recent years - Kieran Tierney, Stuart Armstrong and Odsonne Edouard notable examples.

When asked about a potential move down south by Japanese commentator Takashi Mizunuma, however, Kyogo simply stated he is focused on getting results for the Celts and his country.

“Many players go from Scotland to the EPL," Furuhashi replied.

"It’s motivating to see Takehiro Tomiyasu do well. Good results could open that path for me, but I have to get results to survive at Celtic and the Japan national team.

"I want to do the best I can and contribute to (both) teams.”
