Kym Marsh updates on Strictly return after 'scary' week and dad's hospital dash

Kym Marsh gave an update on her Strictly Come Dancing return - after a tough and 'scary' week.

The Coronation Street actress and singer appeared on BBC 's Morning Live today after she was forced to miss this weekend's edition of the BBC dance competition. Kym and her professional partner Graziano di Prima were given a pass to this weekend's quarter final as comedienne Ellie Taylor made her exit from the competition this weekend.

Appearing on the BBC show today, Kym was joined by Graziano as they discussed missing a week - and she admitted it had been a tough week as her dad was rushed to hospital. She plans to make her return to the BBC show this weekend for the quarter final.

"Start of the week I came down with Covid. That was rubbish. Thankfully I'm testing negative now," she said.

As well as contracting Covid herself, Kym admitted it had been a "scary" week for the whole family as her dad had been rushed to hospital. She said it was "very scary" for a couple of days but he's doing better now.

Graziano said it was the "hardest thing ever" having to watch from home - but the pair have vowed to bring everything to the competition this week. They are reuniting again today to recommence with rehearsals.

"I can't wait to see you," Graziano said excitedly as they both admitted they missed each other. "We take for granted that we spend so much time together. Being apart for a week has been strange. It's crazy - but today, I'm going to meet her again," Graziano added.

A Strictly spokesperson confirmed last week that Kym had tested positive for Covid and would be missing a week.

"Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week," they said.

She watched the show from home, cheering on her fellow celebrities as she recovered.

The week before Kym had impressed with her Paso Doble to 'Only Girl (In The World)' by Rihanna / 'We Found Love' by Calvin Harris ft Rihanna during Blackpool week as she received a respectable score of 33 out of 40.

Head judge Shirley Ballas said of their routine: "I feel like you are in warrior mode. You are here and you are fighting. What I loved, it was so powerful but yet you still kept the femininity," whilst Motsi Mabuse praised Kym's control and energy.

Radio DJ Tyler West and his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell found themselves out the competition following Blackpool after taking part in the dreaded dance-off against actress and singer Molly Rainford and her partner Carlos Gu.
