Kym Marsh in tears as she's eliminated from Strictly and reveals co-stars' amazing gesture for her dad after hospital dash

It was an emotional goodbye as Kym Marsh became the 10th contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing as the former Coronation Street star faced Molly Rainford in the dreaded dance off. Both couples performed their routines again after the dreaded light of doom landed on them after Friday night's quarter final of the BBC dance contest.

CBBC star Molly and her celeb dance partner Carlos Gu performed their charleston to Hot Honey Rag from the musical Chicago. Then Kym and her dance partner Graziano Di Prima reprised their cha cha to Fame from the musical Fame in Saturday night's results show in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

After both couples had danced a second time Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose to save Molly and Carlos. Then Anton Du Beke chose to save Kym and Graziano, saying: "I felt one couple raised their game with a freedom which they didn’t have on Friday night, and because of that I am going to save Kym and Graziano.”

With two votes to Molly and Carlos, and one to Kym and Graziano it meant head judge Shirley Ballas had the casting vote, and she decided to save Molly and Carlos.

On departing the dancefloor Kym, 46, said: “Honestly I’ve loved every single second that I’ve been here. I never thought I’d get to this stage, in a million years. I have to say, it’s all down to this man [Graziano] here, he is just wonderful and he will be my friend forever.

"But what a journey it’s been, this show is just wonderful, it shows you things about yourself you don’t know. It shows you how tough you can be. Everybody, the crew, the celebs, the pros, costume, make up, everyone is amazing. I’ve had the best time, so thank you.”

Kym and Graziano missed performing last weekend after testing positive for coronavirus. Then her dad David, who is fighting incurable prostate cancer, was rushed to hospital during the week.

Kym wiped away tears as she told host Tess Daly that her journey on the show had 'kept him going.' And she revealed the sweet gesture from her Strictly co-stars for David.

On the support from her family, Kym said “My dad has been so proud and it’s kind of kept him going. When he was in hospital last week, and obviously we weren’t here, all these guys sent him videos and it meant such a lot. My grandchildren are so proud.”

When asked if he had any words for his partner, Graziano said: “I will be part of your family forever, I think we became friends from the very first day. I know you’ve learnt how to dance, but I have learnt so much from you, you are a warrior. You’re going to be in my heart forever, we’re going to be together many times, because I know I have found a friend for life."

@SallyPrice4 tweeted: "Sobbing for Kym, just not fair, beautiful woman Xxxxx" @Andi000211 said: "Gutted Kym's gone." And @littlefcuk666 commented: "Heartbroken for Kym and Graziano."

Speaking on the BBC's Morning Live show last week presenter Kym said about their tough week: "Dad went into hospital during week and obviously I've not been able to see him. I managed to see him yesterday obviously having tested negative I was able to go and see him.

"But he's okay, he's on the mend but it was very scary for a couple of days. It's been a bit of a full plate our end let's say." The remaining five couples will take to the dancefloor next week for the semi final when Strictly Come Dancing will air live on Sunday December 10 at 7.15pm, with the results show on Monday December 11 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
