Kym Marsh calls for help after imposter pretends to be her fiance on Instagram

Kym Marsh has asked fans for help after an imposter set up an Instagram account claiming to be her fiance.

The former Coronation Street star took to her Instagram to flag the fake account pretending to be her man Scott Ratcliff.

Kym, 45, asked her followers to block and report the account which used photos of the newly engaged couple.

"Fake profile of my fiance!!!" she warned on her Instagram Stories.

"Please block and report."

In March the actress, 45, announced to her fans that another fake profile of her son David Cunliffe, 25, had been set up just weeks after she exposed others claiming to be David and her eldest daughter Emilie Cunliffe, 24.

The Morning Live presenter previously called for her followers' help in getting those scam accounts shut down.

She said: "This is getting behind a joke now! What is wrong with people! Get your own lives!!!!"

In 2019 Kym was horrified to discover that someone was pretending to be her youngest daughter Polly, who is now 10.

She took to Twitter to share a screen grab of the account and informed her followers that Polly was not on the social networking service.

"Just had this brought to my attention. My daughter is NOT on Instagram and this is someone who clearly has some issues. Pretending to be someone’s 8yr old is NOT ok!" she tweeted.

Kym has received a raft of support after highlighting the issue.

In 2017 she told of her ‘catfishing’ ordeal after receiving flowers from a man who wrongly believed he had been dating her for 10 years.

The Corrie favourite, who played Michelle Connor, made the horrifying discovery when she arrived home to find flowers delivered to her home address from a man who thought they had been in a relationship for a decade.

After going to the police, she was shocked to find out that someone had been claiming to be her while faking a relationship on social media and via text messages.

Kym spoke out about the unsettling experience on the ITV1 chat show Loose Women while backing their campaign to make 'catfishing', a term for someone who maintains a fake online profile using a false name, photos and information, illegal.

Kym also revealed Emilie had been a 'catfishing' victim.

She explained: “Since Emilie’s been about 14 or 15, there’s been various fake sites made on social media of her and she’s got really fed up with it.

“One would get taken off and then a new one would pop up.

“Then there was one, a dating site profile pretending to be her, and claiming she was bisexual and there to meet girls.

“We got a little bit of information about who this was, but when we went to the police with the information, they said, ‘sorry, we can’t do anything about it because they’ve not committed a crime.’”
