Kylian Mbappe's staggering PSG demands including manager change and taking penalties

Kylian Mbappe has at long last ended the relentless speculation over his club future and penned a three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, much to the dismay of Real Madrid.

The Spanish titans were incredibly confident that they could pry Mbappe away from the Parc des Princes this summer, but the 23-year-old has U-turned massively on the idea of a switch to Spain and will instead remain in Paris until 2025.

Confirmation of the contract was swiftly met by a statement from La Liga informing the footballing world of their intention to form an official complaint to UEFA. "Faced with Kylian Mbappe's possible announcemen t of remaining at Paris Saint-Germain, La Liga wishes to state that this type of agreement threatens the economic sustainability of European football, putting hundreds of thousands of jobs and sporting integrity at risk in the medium term, not only from European competitions, but also from our domestic leagues."

The statement continued: "It is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season lost more than 220 million euros, after having accumulated losses of €700million in recent seasons (even declaring income from sponsorships of a very dubious amount) with a cost of sports staff around 650 million for this 21/22 season, can face an agreement of these characteristics while those clubs that could accept the arrival of the player without seeing their wage bill compromised, are left without being able to sign him."

Details of Mbappe's new deal are frankly remarkable, with the 23-year-old on course to pocket more than €100m a year from the club alone. There are also some unprecedented factors Mbappe will now enjoy, such as a huge say in off-field decisions and appointments within PSG's hierarchy.

Two notable departures are likely to be confirmed at the end of this season in the form of manager Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo. Luis Campos is now the odds-on favourite to succeed Leonardo, an appointment reportedly backed by Mbappe, who was consulted.

Le Parisien even report that the PSG forward met with Leonardo in the aftermath of the club's shock elimination from the Champions League - at the hands of Real Madrid no less, in a meeting where Mbappe's future was the topic of discussion.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is thought to have been the one to really inspire Mbappe's backtrack, after inviting the forward's mother out to Doha. There are now reports that Mbappe will be consulted during the process to hire Pochettino's successor, while he is also expected to be handed the captain's armband from next season onwards and take spot-kicks.
