Kylian Mbappé is back on the front of EA’s football franchise, this time leading EA Sports FC 27’s Ultimate Edition after a four-year break from the series cover.
EA confirmed the French forward as the new cover athlete for FC 27, putting him back at the center of the brand where he is wearing his Real Madrid kit. EA FC 26 had fellow Madridista Jude Bellingham as the cover star.
Mbappé returns as FC 27’s new face
Mbappé is the cover star for EA Sports FC 27 Ultimate Edition, marking his franchise return after last appearing on the front of an EA football game four years ago.
It’s also the first time he fronts an EA Sports FC-branded title following the series’ rebrand from FIFA, giving the company a familiar face to this new chapter. Previously, he was the cover star of FIFA 22. Back then, he used to don the PSG kit.
On top of this, the French forward is also the new cover athlete for EA Sports FC Mobile. Mbappé said, “To be featured on the cover of an EA SPORTS FC title for the first time is a very special moment for me. It’s an honor to continue my long-term relationship with the franchise in its latest chapter, alongside the players who have shaped its history. I can’t wait for everyone to experience FC 27.”
EA highlights Real Madrid and his terrific international form
EA Sports is using the reveal to spotlight what Mbappé has done since moving to Real Madrid in 2024. The company notes he has finished as LALIGA EA Sports’ top scorer in both of his seasons in Spain and took home the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot with 15 goals.
That run, plus a strong summer for the national team that led to him winning the Golden Boot at this year’s World Cup, is one of the key reasons for putting him back on the cover as “one of the defining players of his generation.”
Jeff Sharma, Vice President of Franchise Strategy and Marketing at EA Sports FC, said the team is “thrilled to welcome Kylian back” as FC 27’s cover star. He further said, “Kylian’s achievements for both club and country have established him as one of the defining players of his generation. He embodies the ambition, creativity and global appeal that defines EA SPORTS FC today, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with him as he returns to lead EA SPORTS FC 27.”
FC 27 reveal week starts with Mbappé, as the cover announcement is the first beat in EA’s full week of news about the upcoming game. A dedicated gameplay trailer is scheduled to go live on YouTube on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 9am PDT / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST.
