If the Arizona Cardinals are planning to spend the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft on Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, they’ll be doing so without attending his pro day workout.
The team’s decision-makers will not be present for Murray’s big day, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:
This can be taken multiple ways. On one hand, the Cardinals might not actually plan on taking Murray, and if their sights are set elsewhere, there’s no reason for them to bother. On the other hand, if they’re already convinced he’s their guy at No. 1, they’ll likely have their own private workout at some point.
It’s still a big day for Murray, but this won’t do anything to squelch the rumor mill connecting him to the Cardinals at No. 1 overall.
