It is one day into the true beginning of the NFL offseason and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray seems to already be making his desires for the direction the team goes in the draft this year. After actively trying to get the Cardinals to select former Oklahoma teammate and receiver CeeDee Lamb in the first round last year, he seems to want them to go in a different direction this year.
It is what we can infer from a couple of retweets.
Murray retweeted this from Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy on Monday.
QB position aside, if you want your team to win a Super Bowl then you want them to draft OL or DL in the early rounds in April. Might not be as much fun on draft weekend but it wins championships.

Murray also retweeted this stat from Pro Football Focus, who noted Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Tristan Wirfs’ performance as a rookie in 2020. Wirfs was the Bucs’ first-round pick in last year’s draft.

Of course, Murray did not advocate the selection of an offensive lineman a year ago. He wanted the Cardinals to take Lamb, who had a fantastic rookie campaign for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cardinals also had very good tackle play from D.J. Humphries and Kelvin Beachum. They have Josh Jones, their third-round pick a year ago, who hopefully is ready to be a starter.
The Cardinals didn’t select Lamb last year. They might draft a lineman this year, but it won’t be because of Murray. General manager Steve Keim believes in trusting his draft board.
Plus, aside from Mason Cole being forced into a starting role because of A.Q. Shipley’s torn ACL in 2018, Arizona just doesn’t start rookie linemen.
The draft is still months away, but this will be interesting to watch moving forward.
