Kyle Larson rejects playoff for Sprint Car series he co-owns

Reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, who also co-owns the High Limit Sprint Car Series alongside brother-in-law Brad Sweet and streamer FloSports says do not expect a playoff format to come to their winged division at any point soon.

The topic came up with series announcers Chase Raudman and Tony La Porta on the official series podcast.

“I would hope, and I’m pretty certain, that will never happen in sprint car racing,” Larson said on the High Limit Room podcast. “Like, even the late model playoff that they have, I think, is better than what we have in NASCAR, but still it’s not like, I don’t know. It’s not fair. Or not the fairest way. To me, it doesn’t even really add that much excitement at all to a dirt season.

“So, no. No, there will be no playoff or winner-take-all sort of thing. Hopefully, I think, even in NASCAR, I hope we’re done with the winner-take-all, it sounds like. So, yeah, fans don’t have to worry about that. I don’t want to keep going on because I’ll get myself in trouble talking.”

Even the Late Model playoff he was talking about, the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Chase, was overturned over the weekend with that division going back to a full season points format after three seasons with an evolving format that proved generally unpopular.
