Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation has denied reports about the suspension of flights operated by British Airways to Kuwait.

“There is no intention to stop this vital route between the two friendly countries,” DGCA’s official spokesman Saad al-Otaibi told Kuwait’s state-run KUNA agency.

He pointed out that aircraft of the British company are suspended temporarily due to the routine annual inspection of engines.

Otaibi added that the company will continue operations to London by chartered aircraft between June 10 and July 1.

His comments came after Kuwaiti newspapers said that British Airways has decided to suspend its flights to Kuwait during that period and to transfer its passengers to Qatar Airways.
