HYDERABAD: The newly constructed four-lane road under the bridge (RuB) at Tukaram Gate in Secunderabad was thrown open to public on Friday morning.
The ₹29.10 crore RuB was inaugurated by the minister for municipal administration and urban development, KT Rama Rao.
KTR recalled that around 10 years ago, whenever he crossed through the area, it was common for him to get stuck in the traffic at Tukaram Gate. The RuB was built under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP).
Officials noted that the 375 metres long RuB with 40 metres box drainage, is expected to ease traffic congestion on the Marredpally, Tarnaka, Malkajgiri, Mettuguda, Lalapet, Secunderabad route.
“Not just Tukaram Gate, we have already completed road development works worth Rs 6,000 crore so far under the SRDP plan. More RuBs and RoB (road over bridge) will be coming up at places like Sanath Nagar, Khairatabad and Secunderabad constituencies where railway gates are still present,” the municipal administration and urban development minister said.
Deputy speaker TP Padmarao Goud, minister Talasani Srinivas along with mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi were present during the event.
