KTM Drops a Track-Only Naked Superbike, But Is Anyone Asking For This?

I wrote about the latest hyper-naked monster from KTM just a few days ago. It has more ‘R,’ more HP, more carbon bits, a fancy exhaust system and suspension components pulled from the company’s MotoGP program. But apparently that’s not ‘hyper’ enough…

According to KTM, the 2026 Super Duke RR Track is “a purpose-built, track-only weapon that puts crushing lap times ahead of all else and is officially the most powerful production model KTM has ever built.”

Oh, and it’s limited to just 100 units worldwide.

The bike has been stripped of all the components that would make it street-legal and is built to FIM racetrack regulations. The lack of street-legal components helps the Track edition shed 20 lbs off the weight of the street-legal Super Duke RR, and nearly 45 lb off the weight of the standard Super Duke R. If my math is correct, the Track weighs just 395 lbs full of fuel and all the necessary fluids.

To achieve this dramatic weight loss, KTM utilized “a purposeful and deliberate mix of carbon fibre body parts, lightweight forged magnesium wheels, a full titanium Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust, titanium screws, and a reduced electronics platform.”

The suspension and brakes are the same as those found on the Super Duke RR, with Superbike-spec Brembo bits handling the stopping stuff, and WP PRO components - like those found on the Austrian brand’s MotoGP machines - taking care of the ups and downs.

The press release from KTM doesn’t mention what motor the Track is powered by, but I’ll presume it is the same 1350 cc LC8 V-twin offered in the Super Duke RR model, which is good for an eye-watering 190-hp and 100-lb/ft of torque.

Those are fancy parts and big numbers, but is this bike “the epitome of why people aren’t buying motorcycles like they used to,” as suggested by a reader on my story about the Super Duke RR? Is it overpowered, over-engineered, and overpriced (the Super Duke RR has an expected price of $30,000, so I’d guess the Track iteration will be more than that), or is this the ultimate hyper naked track-focused weapon we’ve always wanted?

Considering that KTM is producing just 100 of these motorcycles (available at authorized KTM dealers in May), I feel like this isn’t a bike anyone asked for… But it is definitely a bike everyone can lust after.
