KSrelief and the FAO sign an agreement to improve the living conditions of Yemeni families whose main source of income depends on agriculture, livestock and fisheries. (SPA)

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed on Monday a cooperation agreement with the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to improve the living conditions of Yemeni families whose main source of income depends on agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

Worth USD8 million, the agreement will benefit 34,500 families in 14 districts in the governorates of Abyan, Hodeidah, al-Jawf and al-Mahra.

Advisor at the Royal Court and KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah and FAO Director General QU Dongyu co-signed the agreement.

The agreement aims to support the farmers, livestock owners, and fishermen, protect working families, and improve access to fish landing sites by rehabilitating productive infrastructure and providing basic fishing tools.

It also aims to increase food production capacity by providing agricultural inputs, animal production through distributing feed and salt cubes, and developing the capacities of the staff of the Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries and enable them to provide training to beneficiary families.

The agreement is part of the Kingdom's keenness to provide various forms of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people, improve their living conditions, and mitigate the humanitarian crisis and the effects of the coronavirus on the population.
