Kruise Leeming injury update as Leeds Rhinos star helped off in St Helens win

Leeds Rhinos face a nervous wait on Kruise Leeming's injury after sustaining a concerning foot injury during the victory over St Helens. The hooker had only been on a matter of minutes when he was helped from the field after finding himself at the bottom of a collapsed scrum.

It was one negative on an excellent night for the Rhinos, who ended their drought against the Super League champions with a dramatic 25-24 win. Leeming had taken on the bench role for the game, making way for Jarrod O'Connor to start.

The concern for Leeming and Leeds is that the injury is in a similar area to to the one he sustained last year. He suffered a stress fracture in his foot that saw him miss almost two months of action during the campaign.

Leeds will await scans to determine the severity of the injury, with an outcome likely to be found over the weekend. When quizzed on the injury, Smith said: "He's got a sore foot. He had a fracture in his foot last year and the soreness is in a similar spot so we'll have to see what the x-rays say."

Without Leeming, Leeds are left with only two specialist hookers. O'Connor is joined by Corey Johnson, who made his return to action following injury in the reserves on Thursday night.
