Krispy Kreme going green for St. Patrick’s Day; ‘Leprechaun’ doughnut to debut

For the first time, all of Krispy Kreme’s doughnuts are “going green” for St. Patrick’s Day, including the special “Leprechaun Trap Doughnut” (bottom right). | Krispy Kreme

You’ll be seeing a whole lotta green this St. Patrick’s Day season at Krispy Kreme shops.

The doughnut maker on Monday announced “greenified” versions of all their doughnuts at shops located in Homewood (17815 South Halsted St.), Evergreen Park (9150 S. Western Ave.), Hillside (110 S. Mannheim Rd.) and Chicago in Block 37 (108 N. State St.). The special treats will be available March 13-17 only.

Leading the green invasion will be the elusive Leprechaun Trap doughnut, a “pot of gold” filled with Irish Kreme-flavored filling. Very limited daily quantities means “only a few lucky guests in every shop will have a chance to catch one,” according to Monday’s official announcement.

Other “green” varieties will include the Chocolate Iced with green Kreme, Cake Batter with green icing, Strawberry Iced with St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles, OREO Cookies & Kreme with green icing drizzle, and Chocolate Iced Custard filled with shamrock sprinkles.
