Kris Boyd returns to Celtic coverage on Sky Sports for clash with Ross County

Kris Boyd will join host Eilidh Barbour and the Sky Sports team as a pundit for tonight's match between Celtic and Ross County at Dingwall.

Boyd's absence from recent games prompted online speculation that he had been replaced due to a petition set up by fans demanding he be removed from coverage of Hoops games.

The change.org appeal urged Sky to ditch the outspoken former striker from games featuring Celtic and has over 2800 signatures.

It states: "We would like to request that Sky Sports uses better logic in its deployment of commentators and pundits for all live Scottish football matches, most especially in relation to Kris Boyd."

He last featured in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at the start of the month with James McFadden and John Collins amongst the names used in recent games in his stead.

Record Sport understands his absence had nothing to do with the petition and the TV giants were simply using different voices to keep their programmes fresh.

The pundit has still been used regularly in the meantime on their Gillete Soccer Special.

The former Rangers striker hasn't been backward in coming forward over his enjoyment at his old club's success this season - a situation that has hardly endeared him to Celtic fans in a difficult year.
