Kris Boyd brands Alfredo Morelos a 'disgrace' as he reiterates Rangers 'time is up' message

Kris Boyd has branded Alfredo Morelos' latest Rangers performance a 'disgrace' as he reiterated his time is up in Glasgow.

Michael Beale once again put his faith in the Colombian hitman to lead the line at Hampden but he was ineffective as the Light Blues' hopes of landing a trophy this season ended after a 1-0 defeat in Mount Florida thanks to Jota's first-half winner.

The Hoops capitalised on a lapse of concentration in the Rangers defence as Daizen Maeda superbly picked out his Portuguese team-mate who had the simple task of heading beyond Allan McGregor to send the green and white half of the national stadium wild. It proved to be the match-winning moment as Ange Postecoglou and his troops now make themselves heavy favourites to complete a domestic Treble with Inverness the final hurdle in the Scottish Cup next month.

The League Cup is already in the bag for Celtic while the Scottish Premiership can be confirmed as early as this weekend when the league leaders visit Hearts at Tynecastle. They are currently 13 points clear at the top with just five games of the season to play.

Beale hinted at full-time that Morelos and Ryan Kent's time at the club looks over and former Rangers hitman turned pundit Boyd savaged the striker by claiming he was 'absolutely nowhere to be seen' and didn't add anything to that forward line.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Boyd said: "The end of the season can't come quick enough for Michael Beale now. Looking at it yesterday, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent's future must be elsewhere from the football club.

"I don't think Ryan Kent looked 100 per cent fit, and going into a game of that magnitude, if you're not 100 per cent fit then it's always going to be very difficult.

"I think Ryan Kent has shown that he is a fantastic footballer but his future probably looks elsewhere now. As for Alfredo Morelos, for me, his time's up. I've said it for months and I've taken a little bit of criticism for it as well. But his performances recently... it's been a disgrace really.

"Once again yesterday, he never added anything to that Rangers frontline. When you play as that lone striker, you need to be the focal point of the team and he was absolutely nowhere to be seen yesterday.

"Rangers, as I said, there were plenty of players who played well. But when you are playing without a striker that's performing, then you've absolutely no chance of winning a game of football against a team of the calibre of Celtic."
