PATTAYA - A foreign man, believed to be South Korean, was found dead in the sea off Pattaya late Monday morning.

Police and rescue workers were informed there was a dead body floating face down six nautical miles off Pattaya beach, north of Koh Sak, about 10am.

The dead man was wearing a black-and-white T-shirt and green shorts and was estimated to be in his 50s.

Police said it appeared the man had died at least six hours earlier, from the state of the body. There were no wounds or other signs of violence.

Police searched the body and found three South Korean ATM cards, a room key number 10/1 and a South Korean driving licence with the name “Jun Jeong”.

Pol Lt Kriangkrai Kaeopipop said investigators had yet to confirm the dead man's identity. The body was taken to the Police General Hospital for autopsy.
