Kolkata: Nigerian held for Rs 10 lakh fraud

KOLKATA: The cyber cell of Kolkata Police has arrested a Nigerian national, Ikone Philip Chiedozie (39), from New Delhi for reportedly duping a Kolkata woman of Rs 10 lakh. The accused posed as a wealthy foreigner and falsely promised to marry the victim. "Electronic devices and a few cards have been seized," said a senior officer.

"The accused is the mastermind of the racket in which people were cheated through fake accounts on matrimonial sites and social networking sites. We had registered a case of duping and it took a long probe and technical expertise to track him down to Delhi. He is being brought to Kolkata on transit remand," said an officer.
