Tourist arrivals on Koh Tao continued to grow, with local tourism operators expecting visitor numbers to exceed 800,000 by the end of the year and generate around 10 billion baht in revenue.
Rumluek Assavachin, president of the Koh Tao Tourism Association, on Sunday said the island welcomed 407,697 visitors between January and June, up 50,076, or 14%, from the same period last year.
If the trend continues, arrivals are expected to surpass 800,000 this year, up from 701,851 in 2025 and 666,778 in 2024.
Ms Rumluek attributed the growth to cooperation between state agencies, businesses and local communities in improving tourism standards, promoting sustainable tourism and protecting marine resources.
New activities and attractions have also strengthened the island's appeal, she said.
The latest addition is the Ocean for Life underwater sculpture park, developed by PTT Exploration and Production with government agencies and the local community.
Koh Tao remains one of Asia's leading scuba diving centres, with over 60 dive schools training around 50,000 new divers each year.
