Kneecap band member avoids new terror trial after High Court ruling

  • Kneecap rapper Liam Og O hAnnaidh will not face a new terror trial after the High Court rejected a Crown Prosecution Service appeal.
  • O hAnnaidh, known as Mo Chara, was accused of displaying a flag supporting the proscribed terror organisation Hezbollah at a London gig in November 2024.
  • The original case was dismissed last September because prosecutors failed to secure the Attorney General's permission before charging him within the six-month legal timeframe.
  • The High Court upheld the earlier ruling, confirming the charge was unlawfully instituted.
  • Kneecap issued a statement expressing gratitude for public support and affirming their belief in fighting and winning in court.
